Born in 2001, Sergeant, the pony, came to the farm in 2006 for long term care due to a degenerate eye disease which has rendered him blind. Trained to both ride and drive, his owner cherished this gelding until illness (and eventually death) caused him to find this pony a forever home. He resides in a tree dotted pasture and 'counts' his steps to every obstacle. He runs and plays with his companion miniature gelding, Little Bit without any danger of injury.
Sergeant impressed visitors with his ability to overcome what, most of us, would consider a severe handicap for a normal life. He teaches us what resilience and adaptation can accomplish.
